A good bachelorette party is always a fun time.
Often when people think about bachelorette parties, they envision a bunch of women, rowdy and skimpily dressed, partying hard core in some lively city. While this is a lovely image, it really isn’t always the norm. Some women prefer a more relaxed celebration. And during a pandemic there may be limitations, restrictions, and personal comfort levels to contend with. As a result, low key bachelorette parties have become more common, and I think they will be here to stay.
It can be difficult to come up with ideas for a fun celebration of the bride that are not a crazy party. The thing about bachelorette parties, is that your have fun spending time with friends who love you. It shouldn’t matter if it’s a major blow out or an intimate gathering. It’s all about women getting to enjoy themselves before the wedding and finding an excuse to let off a little stress and celebrate. There is no where that states that the party has to be massive or raunchy.
Today’s post is all about low key bachelorette party suggestions that will allow for a fun time with your girls, while still giving options to keep any pandemic guidelines followed and everyone safe. Depending on where you are located and the personal comfort of your friends, you will have to choose the right path for you. I’m not going to get into the different nuances of everyone’s concern in the pandemic. By now many people have either been exposed, had the virus, been vaccinated, or have remained socially distant for this whole time (or not), so do what’s best for you.
Everyone has a different opinion about getting together, and it’s important to respect that. Today’s suggestions are just that. Suggestions of fun things to do, that may be of interest to you in these times, or down the road long after this pandemic is over. Choose what works best for you, your location, and your friends.
1. BACKYARD BACHELORETTE PICNIC
This option can be totally tailored to meet anyone’s comfort level with socialization.
A backyard picnic can be really fun and easy to set up. It can be as big or small as you want it to be. The host (probably not you as the bride, as it’s usually the maid of honor or other friends), can provide drinks and some snacks. Depending on how comfortable everyone is, guests can bring their own food or it can be ordered ahead of time and each guest has their own take-out container to eat from.
A backyard bachelorette picnic is fun because the host can decorate, have different spaces for seating, and everyone can just kind of relax and catch up. There is no pressure to play games or do anything extreme. It can just be a relaxing, fun time with friends.
2. LOCAL AIR B&B
What if you stayed at a local house with some friends?
This would entail being comfortable staying close to others. If you take the proper precautions ahead of time, it should still be safe. Renting an Air B&B close to where you live could be really fun. You can enjoy a new space, play games, have a dance party, and depending on the home you may also be able to enjoy a hot tub or pool.
3. VIRTUAL BACHELORETTE PARTY
Okay, you’re not at a place where you want to get together with a group. Luckily, virtual parties are a thing now.
I go into virtual bridal showers in this post, and virtual bachelorette parties aren’t all that different. Rather than have sentimental moments and gift opening as you would see at a shower, the host could encourage other activities. Fun virtual games, performers (yes, this is possible), and having guests interact with each other all come to mind. There could be a fun theme like “Vegas” where everyone has to wear sparkly outfits and drink a certain colored drink. Another benefit is that you can invite really anyone, depending on the virtual platform and it’s limitations.
4. WINE TASTING
This may depend on where you live, but wine tasting is really fun.
Renting a limo to take you, getting some friends together, and just enjoying a day of tours and tasting is always a good time. A lot of wineries will also offer food, so you can make a day of it with gourmet pairings. While the people in your group may not be totally socially distanced, these days drivers and wineries are playing it pretty safe and adhering to any local guidelines. As long as you’re comfortable with your group, you should be able to relax and have fun.
5. BACHELORETTE CAMPING
Girls who love camping, LOVE camping.
It can be really fun and low key to go camping with your friends. Camping is away from society, peaceful, and depending on where you go and what you like to do. Plus, with the right people it’s easy to stay entertained. It’s not usually expensive and for many folks, doesn’t require a ton of travel. Camping isn’t the typical bachelorette choice, but there are a lot of reasons why it may work out awesome for you in these times, or in the future.
6. SPA DAY
Have you ever had a spa day? They are pretty great.
Depending on what is open and available at your location, a spa day may be a really nice treat. Usually there are options for treatments like massages, pedicures, facials, or many, many others. Most spas will have a hot tub and pool for you to enjoy for the day as well. Usually, you and your friends can have lunch and sip on yummy beverages, too. While a spa day is typically a little pricey, if you’re staying close to home anyway and skipping a hotel, it could still be an affordable way to enjoy your bachelorette.
7. DINNER PARTY
A dinner party is a lot like a backyard picnic. It’s a little more formal, a little less distanced, and definitely at dinner time.
Dinner parties among close friends can be a super fun and intimate way to enjoy someone’s bachelorette. Also, it would be easy to delegate tasks to each participant (other than the bride), so not everything falls on the host. If you have a cook in the group, you can purchase nice ingredients and try out some popular recipes. If someone is into décor, they can be in charge of the table settings and any ambiance. Another person can choose the background music and any games or activities for after dinner. Depending on what you like to drink, someone could choose wine to pair with dinner or make craft cocktails for the group.
To get a little more fancy, and depending on your comfort level, you could also hire a private chef to cook. This will take a little pressure off and also be a pretty fun treat for everyone.
8. RESTAURANT
Much like a dinner party, getting together outside the house for a meal is always an option to celebrate a low key bachelorette.
Though you won’t be socially distanced from the others at the table, if you are comfortable getting together at a restaurant, the meal can be a great way to celebrate. Depending on the bride’s style, the restaurant could be fancy, fun, or quirky. It could also be a favorite among a group of friends. At the restaurant, depending on the bride, friends could have the option to put a crown or sash on her, or bring some balloons or flowers to have a little fun and stand out a bit.
9. PARK, BEACH, LAKE, POOL
Getting away for the day is always fun.
Grab your group of girls and having a fun day away at a park, beach, lake, or pool. It’s such a chill way to enjoy your bachelorette. Depending on how you get there, how far you have to go, and your own personal preference, you’ll also have the ability to social distance if you go to a spot that isn’t crowded. It can be a lot of fun to enjoy each other’s company outdoors, just snacking, drinking, and maybe having a little bachelorette fun. Plus, this option is easy to coordinate and doesn’t really cost that much. Just pick a day and show up.
10. BACHELORETTE SLUMBER PARTY
I haven’t had a slumber party in a long time, what about you?
While a slumber party isn’t exactly socially distanced, it can be a really fun way to celebrate a bachelorette party. Plan a throwback situation with cheesy movies in the background, junk food, and adult beverages (if you like to drink). Play games like Truth or Dare or Light As A Feather, Stiff As A Board. Depending on where you stay, you may even find yourself able to stay at someone’s house who has enough beds for everyone. This situation is ideal because let’s face it, at this age who wants to sleep on the floor?

No matter the situation that you are in during these crazy times, or how low key you prefer your bachelorette to be, there are lots of options to suit your preferences that do not involve getting crazy in a large city. Whether you opt to remain totally distanced from others, or choose to include a few close friends into a bubble, you can truly enjoy your time with others and have a special pre-wedding celebration of you with your besties.
