Everyone wants to be at their peak when they get married. They want to feel their best, and look amazing. And, while we all know that a lot of effort can go into our beauty routines, it is possible to take shortcuts. Enter bridal beauty hacks. Some of them can be done before your wedding, and some during. Either way, they make your beauty routine more effective.
If you are getting married soon, and want to do simple actions to help feel gorgeous on your wedding day, you’re not alone. With some intention, you can make sure that you maximize your effort and time ahead of your wedding. And, you’ll be better prepared on your wedding day with the right materials. More on that later.
10 Bridal Beauty Hacks
This post is going to share my top 10 bridal beauty hacks. I’ve included hacks for before your wedding, in particular those you can incorporate into your beauty routine. I’ll also go hacks for your actual wedding day. These may require you to bring certain products or materials to your wedding. This post will make sure you’re informed and ready, either way.
Let’s get into it!
BRIDAL BEAUTY HACKS FOR BEFORE YOUR WEDDING
The bridal beauty hacks in this section are ones that you can start right now. In fact, you can start them before you’re even engaged, and well after you get married. They are meant to help prep you for your wedding day, and you’ll love them.
1. CLEAN MAKEUP BRUSHES PRIOR TO YOUR WEDDING (AND BEYOND)
When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? If you’re like most people, it’s probably been a long time.
Ideally, makeup brushes should be cleaned once a week. Now, this may be stretched if they aren’t used that often. However, if you wear makeup every day, it’s important to wash that residue out of the brush. Brushes collect more than makeup. They collect dirt, oil, and dust. All of this goes back on your skin and can create blemishes and other issues when applying makeup.
To wash your brushes, rinse them with lukewarm water. Use a mild soap or cleanser to wash out any residue. And then air dry.
2. USE A DRY BRUSH FOR AMAZING PRE-WEDDING SKIN
Do you know what a dry brush is? Essentially it’s a brush that you use for your skin.
Brushing your skin each day can help give it a brightening glow. It can also even out skin tone through the exfoliation. There are some claims that effective dry brushing can help stimulate your skin so much that your lymphatic system is further activated. This can lead to improved circulation, less ingrown hairs, and less acne. Dry brushing can be an effective item to add to your beauty routine while you’re engaged, and to keep going once you’re married.
After you dry brush your whole body, take a shower and follow up with lotion. You’ll feel amazing. If you need a recommendation on an inexpensive dry brush to start with, this is one I recommend.
3. TREAT YOUR LASHES RIGHT
Who would have thought that a bridal beauty hack would be to take care of eyelashes?
I’m not talking about getting extensions. Or wearing a fancy mascara (though I do love my fancy mascara!). I’m talking about applying a tiny little bit of Vaseline to your eyelashes each evening. This act will help them be very soft and glossy. The best part is that it helps with mascara application. And no one wants lumpy mascara, right?
By the way, make sure you’re wearing waterproof mascara on your wedding day. Between tears, sweat, and any other number of things that can cause moisture to your face, waterproof mascara will be your best friend.
4. USE EXFOLIANT ON YOUR HANDS
We all know how awesome exfoliating our faces can feel, but have you ever used it on your hands?
When you get married, chances are there will be photos of your hands. And, if you have a lot of people at your wedding, your hands will be viewed closely, by them. You may want to prep those ladies with something more than a good lotion. Enter an exfoliant.
A great bridal beauty hack is to use a gentle chemical exfoliant on your hands. I use this one. All you have to do is rub it in a couple times a week, and follow with moisturizer. The chemical exfoliant will clear away dead skin cells, and you’ll notice the difference.
5. USE A GUA SHA
I recently started using a gua sha, and it feels so luxurious.
A gua sha is a small, flat, jade “scraper” that is used to depuff your face and bring out the circulation and brightness in your skin. The tool has been around for centuries to encourage skin to heal itself. It’s simple to use. All you do is strategically scrape the gua sha around your face, applying gentle pressure. Ideally, you’re scraping in the direction of your lymphatic flow. To learn more, check out this article from Byrdie.
When you use a gua sha, you can play around with what works for you. And, you can do it in less than a minute. Adding this little tool to your pre-wedding routine will help bring out the brightness in your skin and get it very prepared for your wedding day.
BRIDAL BEAUTY HACKS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY
Alright, so your beauty routine has been tweaked a bit prior to your wedding. What bridal beauty hacks exist for your actual wedding day? Well, read on for what I recommend.
6. USE HAIRSPRAY ON YOUR HAIR CLIPS
This may be a little trick that your hair stylist already knows about. However, if they don’t, be sure to share.
If you’re anything like me, you have soft, fine hair that never seems to hold clips and bobby pins in the right place for long. A little hack that can help with this is to spray the clip or pin with a little hair spray before placing it. The hair spray will act as a binder, and the clips will have a better chance of staying in place.
7. TRY AN ICE ROLLER
Just like with a gua sha, an ice roller can work wonders on your skin. This is especially true if you wake up a little puffy on your wedding day.
With a possible rehearsal dinner the night before, socialization, and general stress, it’s very common to have skin that needs a little “cooling off” on your wedding morning. Enter an ice roller. An ice roller is a small, usually jade, roller. It can be kept in the refrigerator until needed.
When you use it properly, ice rollers can be effective at draining your lymphatic system on your face, reducing tension, and giving you a less-puffy look. You can start using one ahead of your wedding, but it won’t hurt to have one handy on your wedding day.
8. APPLY PERFUME STRATEGICALLY
Many brides want to have a certain wedding day scent. And, while it’s totally fine to apply it to just your wrists and neck, you may want to mix it up a little.
Wedding days can be long. They can be busy and active. Chances are that the perfume you apply in the morning will fade before you even sit down for dinner. And, unless you want to actually bring your perfume to the wedding, you can be proactive about making it last longer.
For example, apply a little behind your ears. Put a dab inside your elbows. The back of your knees may even be effective. Don’t drench yourself in scent, but a little spritz or application in strategic spots will allow your perfume to stay with you even longer.
9. USE EYELASH GLUE TO HOLD YOUR NECKLACE IN PLACE
This is such an easy bridal beauty hack.
If you are wearing a necklace with a clasp, it’s likely that the clasp will “fall down” from the back of your neck as the day progresses. Rather than constantly put it back in place, you can use a little eyelash glue at the back of your neck to hold it. All you need is a little dab, and your necklace should stay. And, the lovely part is, no one will be able to tell the glue is there. Genius.
10. REMOVE FAKE EYELASHES WITH STEAM
Have you ever removed fake eyelashes? They can be a bit tricky, and there is the risk that your own eyelashes come off with them.
After your wedding, rather than risk pulling off your eyelashes, or pulling on your eyelids, use steam to remove your fake eyelashes. This can be achieved by taking a shower and then removing them. Or, you can place your face over a bowl or sink filled with warm water. The steam will soften the glue, and make the fake eyelashes much easier to remove (with minimal damage to anything else).
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Friends, I hope you had some takeaways from these bridal beauty hacks. Remember, you can start with some simple tweaks before your wedding day in order to look and feel your most beautiful on your wedding day. And, with a little knowledge and planning, you’ll have the right materials and tools handy when the big day comes. Either way, you’ll look amazing. Happy wedding planning!
