Not sure how to care for your skin the night before your wedding? This post is going to help you out!
Now, we all know that skincare can be an important part of your beauty routine. In fact, for some people, it’s the only component of their beauty routine. And, many people already know what to do to treat their skin at night, on a regular basis. They have their products, they have their system, and it works for them.
However, the way you care for your skin the night before your wedding can totally impact how you look and feel on your wedding day. The night before your wedding provides an opportunity to set your skin up for success. It can also create some risks and issues, too. The point of this post is to let you know what to do, so your skin will thank you later.
How To Care For Your Skin The Night Before Your Wedding
This post is going to share with you how to care for your skin the night before your wedding. Just to remind everyone, I’m not a skincare professional. I have no dermatology degree. I’m not an aesthetician. However, I’ve done a lot of research on skincare. There are beauty products that I love, that I use religiously. And, there are products that I see no point in. My skin is sensitive, and what I do works for me. As always, you do you. If you have real concerns, see a professional.

Let’s get into the tips!
START YOUR ROUTINE BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR WEDDING
One piece of advice I want everyone to take note of is to start your nighttime skincare routine well before your wedding.
The evening before your wedding is not the time to try out new things with your skin. You want your skin to be used to what you use on it. And, you want to be fairly confident that your skin will react nicely to what you use. Trying new products, or a new sequence of products, can result in flare ups, break outs, and irritated skin. This would be a huge no-no for your wedding day.
I recommend that you start your skincare routine at least a few weeks ahead of your wedding. This will help you be sure that it works for your skin.
SET THE MOOD
If you’re able to, set the mood for your skin the night before your wedding.
I’m all for taking time to relax and regroup the night before your wedding. Of course, this can be tricky if you have a lot of people around you, or a late evening planned in general. However, if you can, make the evening super special. Your wedding day will be a big one. Every little chance to relax ahead of it will be a treat.
There’s a few suggestions to set the mood. First, relax by either meditating for a few minutes, doing some light stretches, or perhaps taking a shower or bath. Then, lay out all your skincare products. I like to place them in order of usage, but you do what works for you. During this time, you may want to light a candle or sniff some essential oils. Take some deep breaths, and start your skincare routine.
When placing products on your skin, really savor using them. Work cleansers into your skin. Find opportunities to provide your skin a little massage or pressure application. All of this will help increase the blood flow in your skin and enhance the experience.
BEGIN WITH A CLEANSER
Alright, on with the actual routine and products.
Of course, if you know anything about skincare, you know that the products you apply to your skin during the day are similar to the ones in the evening. In some cases, they may even be the same. This is all good, though. Right now we are talking about how to care for your skin the night before your wedding. If you end up doing something similar the next morning, that’s totally okay.
That said, you’ll want to start off your skincare with a cleanser. The type of cleanser you use will depend on your type of skin. For some people, they like to cleanse their skin with an oil. Others prefer a gentle, foaming cleanser. Some prefer a cleanser with products that will provide more oil control and dry their skin out a bit. It’s important to find the right cleanser for your skin, but they all provide one essential service. They clean out any dirt and grime from your skin, so the other products can get to work.
GET YOUR SKIN READY FOR THE REST OF THE ROUTINE
Once your skin is clean, it’s time to get fancy with it.
Here’s your opportunity to really pamper your skin. For example, take some time to dry brush your arms, legs, and torso. The key with using a dry brush is to brush towards your heart, no matter the body part. Using a dry brush can help exfoliate your skin, but it can also be a great way to enhance your lymphatic system and wake up some of those internal detoxification processes.
Additionally, you can use a jade roller or gua sha on your face and neck. A jade roller is just as it sounds. It’s a cute little roller that you can use to cool down your skin, promote blood flow, and feel great. A gua sha is a flat little stone that basically does the same thing. Both of these tools can be found easily online, and come with instructions for use. Word of advice – don’t go too hard with either of them, we don’t want to leave marks.
HEAD ONTO PREPING YOUR SKIN
Now that your skin is feeling clean and pampered, it’s time to move onto prepping your skin for treatment.
For this step, you’ll want to exfoliate your face and body with products. For example, you could use a body scrub. Or, a gentle chemical exfoliant that will clear away dead skin cells. You may also want to use a mask that has exfoliating properties to it. All of this will allow your skin to be super refreshed for any additional products.
If your skin is used to it, apply a toner or essence to fully prepare it for the next step. A toner will clear away any exfoliating products you use. An essence will give a boost of treatment to your skin, depending on what your skin needs.
TREAT YOUR SPECIFIC SKIN WITH A SERUM
Alright, the fun part. Time to apply some serums.
Now, serums are a concentrated amount of ingredients that are meant to solve a specific skin issue. Some serums have hydrating qualities to them. Some are focused on anti-aging. There are serums that give your skin a boost of vitamin C, and serums that can help dry out your skin if you’re prone to acne. Serums can be the main star of your skincare routine, if you use one that is meant for your specific skin.
When you apply your serums, do it as directed. I like to apply serums with my fingers, and gently work them into my skin. You may have serums that use droppers or pumps, based on their packaging, so always pay attention to what the packaging recommendation is. Give the serum a few minutes to soak in before heading to the next step.
PROTECT YOUR SKIN
Last step! Even though serums are the star, protection is super important for your skin the night before your wedding.
Basically, this step is all about moisture and hydration. It’s where you apply a lotion or moisturizer to seal in what you just applied to your skin. For evenings, I like to apply a night time cream that is fairly heavy and will really hydrate my skin. However, if you have oily skin, you may want to use something a bit lighter.
When you moisturize your skin, really work it in. Give yourself a little massage during this time. Don’t forget your arms and legs, either. And, of course, your neck and collar bone. You’re likely to show off your skin during your wedding, so any place that will be exposed should get the royal treatment.
And, with that, you’ve properly cared for your skin the night before your wedding.
THOUGHTS ON HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR WEDDING
Friends, if you haven’t already, it’s time to start your evening skincare routine. I promise that your skin will glow and thank you if you are intentional with it. And, you’ll never regret taking the time to care for your skin the night before your wedding. Remember, it can take some time for products to have effects on your skin. And, not all products will be great for all skin. Give something a chance, but if it’s not right for you, return it or give it away. Life is too short to use ineffective skincare products. Happy wedding planning!
