I really believe that edible wedding favors are the best kind of favor. Whether it come in beverage form, to be consumed shortly after the wedding, or eaten well after a guest has gone home, edible wedding favors are always crowd pleasers.
I think most of us agree that we have too much stuff in our homes. Or, we are in a constant battle to remove items, while managing what comes in. This is why edible wedding favors are so great. They allow your guests to feel appreciated, enjoy something a little special, while not giving them something they don’t need or want for the long haul. It’s the best of both worlds.
While you can totally skip wedding favors in general, chances are you’re considering giving a little something to your guests. This may be true whether you’re having a small or big wedding. Either way, it’s nice to batch up a bunch of goodies and gift them as your guests are leaving your wedding. And, if you have a lot of guests, you can gift something easy and cost effective. If you are having a small wedding, splurge a little.

There are tons of wedding favor options out there, but this post is going to lay out some ideas that you will totally want to do. Some may require a little craftiness, but you’ve got options. I’ll let you know the idea, the difficulty in executing it, and how to make it super cute for your guests.

EDIBLE WEDDING FAVORS TO DRINK
Is it weird to give away a drink for your wedding favor? Not at all! You can dress it up with ribbons, washi tape, customized labels, and make it super cute. Plus, not all drinks need to contain liquid. In some cases, you can give instructions on adding a certain type of liquid to complete the favor.

A BOTTLE OF BEER
Are you and your partner into beer? Are you getting married at a brewery? If so, this can be a great wedding favor. Go get some cases of a craft beer you love. Add a label to the bottle. Make a sign that has an adorable pun on it. Put it in a cute little bag so it’s easy to carry. And give them away to guests as they leave your wedding.
HOT CHOCOLATE MIX
This is a super popular wedding favor, and one of the examples of “adding a liquid to it” that I was mentioning earlier. With this edible wedding favor, you can layer all the ingredients for hot chocolate into a mug or jar. To make it fun, add in crushed peppermint, chocolate chips, or marshmallows. Seal it up with a lid, and stick on a label with instructions of what to do next. Easy peasy!
COFFEE BEANS
If you and your partner are into coffee this is a perfect idea for you. You can order your favorite beans, either in mini packages, or a bulk bag, and then put a sticker or label on it for your guests. It doesn’t have to be fancy. You can leave the beans whole, or ground them if you’d like. Be sure to include some information on the beans, and how much you enjoy them.
MINI CHAMPAGNE OR BOTTLE OF WINE
We’ve all seen this trend at bridal showers, so why not continue it onto the wedding? There are tons of different options for mini bottles of champagne and wine out there. Add on some custom labels, a cute tag, or ribbon, and you’re good to go!
A TIN OR BAGS OF TEA
So perhaps you’re not into coffee or alcohol. Give away tea as an edible wedding favor. It can be a little tin of loose leaf tea, or you can put a tea bag or two in there. If you want to make it more fancy, you can always include a little packet of sugar, or dry creamer.
EDIBLE WEDDING FAVORS TO CONSUME NOW
In some cases, you may want to give away an edible wedding favor that your guests will enjoy at your wedding, or shortly afterwards. While some of these items may require a little extra effort (keeping them cold, or warm, timing them correctly), they will surely go fast.
POPSICLES
Popsicles, ice cream, slushies, or any cold and sweet item, will definitely make your guests happy if your wedding is taking place in a warm climate. There are lots of ways you can do this. To keep it simple, get a cooler or ice chest and fill it with ice and popsicles still in their wrapping. Make a cute sign, and voila, you’re good to go.
Alternative ideas would be to create an ice cream bar, rent a slushie machine, or hire an ice cream truck to be at your wedding. Again, each of these items require a bit more effort, but they will surely wow your guests.
FRESH COOKIES
There’s nothing like the smell of fresh cookies. If you can time it right, and have a caterer, baker, or volunteer who is able to bake the cookies near the end of your wedding, your guests will be totally into them. Warm, fresh, gooey, oh my! Serve the cookies with a side of milk, add a cute sign, and leave some “to go” bags just in case.
DONUTS
Just like with cookies, fresh donuts are always a crowd pleaser. Now, I’ve seen people get cute with donuts. They hang them on pegs and make fancy displays for them. If you’re into this, go for it. However, it can be as simple as leaving them in their box with a homemade sign thanking your guests for joining your wedding.
POPCORN
Serving popcorn as an edible wedding favor can be so easy. It doesn’t even have to be fresh. Though you can totally bring in a popcorn machine and have it popping for guests, you can also order individual bags of specialty popcorn. They even sell them at Costco over the holidays. Put the bags in a basket, add a sign or sticker, and your guests will grab and go.
PERSONAL SIZED WEDDING CAKE
There is just so much food at some weddings that guests don’t have room for the wedding cake. Or, there’s a dessert bar that takes all their attention away. As an edible wedding favor, you could totally put together little boxes with slices of cake (or a cupcake), for your guests to eat later that night or the next day. So sweet!
EDIBLE WEDDING FAVORS TO CONSUME LATER
Some edible wedding favors will last for awhile. And, if your guests all live close to the wedding and aren’t going to be traveling far, these favors could be great for them. In some cases, they can hang out in their pantries or fridges and be enjoyed over and over.
PERSONALIZED HERSHEY KISSES OR M&M’S
I kind of love this one. You can totally order Hershey Kisses with a personalized message on the little paper that sticks out of them. Or, just stick a personalized sticker to the bottom of them. You can even order m&m candies with your initials on it. Both are so cute, and can be placed in little boxes or clear bags for your guests to eat later on.
LOCAL HONEY
Everyone loves honey, right? It’s sweet, it goes on a ton of things, and it literally lasts forever. Seriously. Local honey is even more of a hit. Just go to a local farmer’s market and see if you can find a vendor who sells tiny jars of local honey. Slap a label on it, and you’re good to go with a sweet and cute wedding favor.
HOMEMADE JAM
Yes, you can totally do this. Homemade jam isn’t complicated. Find a highly reviewed recipe online, or talk to your families to see if they have one. Get the fruit you like, and add the ingredients needed. Make a large batch, and put it into jars that you can find at a craft store, or like these ones. Add a sticker, a cute cloth covering, and make a sign to go with it. Homemade and so thoughtful!
HOMEMADE PICKLED VEGGIES
Just like the jam, you can totally do this, too. All you need to do is make a brine, and have chopped veggies soaking in it. Jar it up, and give away to guests. Bonus points if you add a label with suggested uses for the veggies. For example, they can be used in salads, pizza, pasta, hamburgers, or eaten plain.
DIY CANDY BAR
This is a wedding dessert idea that can totally double as a wedding favor. Gather up some large bowls, serving utensils, small bags or boxes, and let guests fill them up with the candy they like. Better yet, have only candy that you like. Bonus points if it matches your wedding colors.
SALTS OR SPICES
I received salt at a wedding once, and it remains one of my favorite wedding favors to date. There are a million recipes for garlic salt, spicy salt, or any other kind of salt you like online. And, you can also mix it up with spices, too. It can range from sweet (think cinnamon and sugar) to savory (barbeque), to cultural (Greek), and everything in between. Go grab some little jars and fill them up!
COOKIE MIXES
Typically, for this, you would get a jar and fill it with all the dry ingredients for cookies. You can also individually wrap the ingredients, too. It’s cute to layer them, but you don’t have to. To make cookie mixes, buy bulk ingredients from a local store, and measure them into individual jars. Add a sticker or tag with instructions on how to make cookies, and you’re done!
OLIVE OIL
Though you can portion out olive oil yourself into small bottles, I suggest just buying a bulk case of mini bottles. You can find online retailers who will customize the sticker that goes on it, so you don’t even have to worry about it. Olive oil is one of those staple ingredients that almost everyone eats and uses, so this edible wedding favor will not go to waste.
ROASTED NUTS
This is such an easy homemade edible wedding favor. You can either roast the nuts yourself, or you can buy them in bulk. Then, put a serving into a small clear bag or box, and add a label or ribbon to make it cute. Trust me, your guests will totally go for it!
HOMEMADE SALSA
Just like with pickled veggies and homemade jam, this is another wedding favor that seems intense but really isn’t. Find a great salsa recipe, and make a huge batch. Portion it out into small jars and add a sticker to it to help personalize it. There you go!
SMORES KIT
I’ve seen this done at quite a few weddings, and it’s always popular. All you need to do is grab a clear bag, put a couple graham crackers in it, a few marshmallows, and some chocolate. Extra points if it’s Hershey’s, so you can have a “true smore”. Tie a ribbon on it, and your guests will know what to do.
