Engagement party cocktail ideas!
Tis the season. The season of engagements, that is. For whatever reason, people tend to get engaged at a more frequent and rapid pace during the end of the year. Is it the holidays? The magic that seems to fill the air? The thought of a new year and new beginnings? I’m not sure. However, it happens. And you know what it means? New engagements, and new celebrations. In particular, engagement parties.
Engagement parties are such a wonderful way to celebrate with your friends and family. Whether you’re planning a small party, or a big bash, chances are you’re thinking about the menu. And, if you’re the kind of people who like to drink, you’re thinking about the drink menu. Enter engagement party cocktail ideas, including fun names for the drinks.
Engagement Party Cocktail Ideas (Drinks and Fun Names!)
This post is going to share with you engagement party cocktail ideas. Included are drink recipes and fun names for them. The inspiration for many of these drinks came from tried and true cocktail recipes that I’ve explored in the past. Feel free to modify as you see fit to match your tastes. If a drink or two speaks to you, make them the signature drink of your engagement party. If not, maybe you’ll be inspired to change one of these recipes or names to something that works best for you.
Let’s get into it!
EVER AFTER MARTINI
Who doesn’t love a martini?
I mean, a martini with strait booze is nasty, if you ask me. But, jazzing it up a little with mixers is fun. The glass is fancy, too. This martini is sweet and tangy, but also has a nice buzz to it. To make it, you’ll need some basic ingredients and a shaker.
- 2 shots vodka
- 1 shot crème de cassis
- 1 shot lime juice
- Dash simple syrup
- Ice cubes
Shake all ingredients in a shaker until they are chilled and strain into a chilled martini glass.
I DO DAIQURI
This engagement party cocktail has the ingredients of a daiquiri, but it’s not like the daiquiris you may be used to on a beach vacation.
The “I Do Daiquiri” is actually a strained drink. It’s served chilled. There are only four ingredients, so it’s an easy one to arrange with items you likely have on hand. If you or your partner are into rum, or you’re having a wedding on the beach, this could be a fun nod to your preferences. Plus, the fact that it’s not blended will be a conversation starter.
- 2 shots white rum
- ¾ shot lime juice
- ½ tsp simple syrup
- Cracked ice cubes
Pour rum, lime, and syrup over ice and shake until cold. Strain into a cocktail glass.
DOWN ON ONE KNEE
So, a “Down On One Knee” is basically a Moscow mule. It’s called “Down On One Knee” because it’s just so darn tasty.
There’s just something about the lime juice and ginger beer that masks the vodka really well in this engagement party cocktail. If you’ve ever had a Moscow mule, you know what I’m talking about. The carbonation and sourness makes this drink easy to well, drink. Enjoy!
- 2 shots vodka
- 1 shot lime juice
- Cracked ice cubes
- Ginger beer
- Lime to decorate
Shake vodka and lime with ice. Pour into a chilled tall glass, or copper mug, with ice. Top with ginger beer and decorate with lime slice and herbs like mint or basil.
THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
Do you know what a woo woo drink is?
It’s one of those drinks that makes you think of college. A bunch of girls, shooting a woo woo shot, and then saying “Wooooo”. It’s obnoxious, but it’s fun.
“The Big Announcement” is named just this because it’s like a woo woo, which is typically followed by a big announcement of shouting and shrieks. It’s the kind of engagement party cocktail that’s perfect for a big engagement party, with loud voices and guests that are ready to party. It’s delicious, too.
- Cracked ice cubes
- 2 shots vodka
- 2 shots peach schnapps
- 4 shots cranberry juice
- Pomegranate seeds, or cranberries, to decorate
Fill a chilled cocktail glass halfway with ice. Pour in vodka, schnapps, and juice. Stir and top with seeds or berries.
PUT A RING ON IT
Okay, this engagement party cocktail is deceiving, but so good.
It’s based off the “Sex on the Beach” drink. A drink that has more alcohol in it than you’d expect. And look, the point here is not to get wasted. It’s to enjoy yourself amongst family and friends. As long as you have an appropriate amount of “Put A Ring On It”, you will enjoy yourself, I promise.
- 1 shot peach schnapps
- 1 shot vodka
- 2 shots orange juice
- 2 shots cranberry juice
- Ice cubes
- Lemon juice
Shake schnapps, vodka, and juices over ice. Strain into glass and squeeze in lemon juice. Garnish with sliced citrus fruit.
SAY YES
I couldn’t have a list of party drinks without at least one blended gem.
A “Say Yes” is a variation of a strawberry colada. It has beachy vibes, and is perfect for an engagement party that takes place on a warm day. It’s slushy, fruity, creamy, and just sweet enough. The fun news is that you can also make a virgin version of it with no rum. Just don’t lose track of which batch is alcohol-free.
- Crushed ice cubes
- 2 shots rum
- 4 shots pineapple juice
- 1 shot coconut cream or coconut milk
- 6 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- Pineapple and strawberry, to decorate
Blend ice, rum, juice, cream, and strawberries until smooth. Pour into highball glass. Decorate with pineapple and strawberry.
WILL YOU MARRY ME?
I promise you and your chocolate loving friends will love “Will You Marry Me”.
It’s basically a chocolate martini. And, yes, I know, espresso martinis are all the rage these days. I just don’t enjoy drinking caffeine late in the day, you know? So this is a compromise. A slightly sweet, oh so decadent chocolate martini inspired engagement party cocktail. Yum!
- Lemon wedge
- Unsweetened cocoa
- 2 shots vodka
- ½ shot crème de cacao
- 2 quick dashes orange flower water
- Ice cubes
Run rim of cocktail glass with lemon wedge, dip in cocoa. Shake vodka, crème de cacao, and orange flower water over ice until frosted. Strain into glass.
BALL AND CHAIN
I honestly don’t know if the “Ball and Chain” drink is based off a real drink, or just sounds good to me. If it isn’t, it should be.
This drink is kind of sweet, but also has an “adult” flair to it with the gin. It’s earthy, fruity, and carbonated. If you’re the kind of person who loves a good cocktail cherry, this is the perfect engagement party cocktail to add them to.
- Cracked ice cubes
- 2 shots gin
- 1 shot cherry brandy
- 1 shot lemon juice
- 1 tsp grenadine
- Club soda
- Lime zest and cocktail cherries
Fill a chilled glass halfway with ice. Shake gin, brandy, juice, and grenadine with ice until cold. Strain into glass. Top with club soda and decorate with lime zest and cherries.
