Halloween weddings, and all the creative ideas that come from them, can be so much fun!
If you really love Halloween, and you’re not too concerned about your wedding being super traditional, a Halloween wedding can be super exciting to plan and experience. It allows you and your partner to bring out your creativity and get the ideas flowing. Halloween can inspire images that are scary, gothic, and exciting, all of which can be awesome to see in action at a wedding.
Halloween weddings are great because they have a built-in theme that can be as prominent or subtle as the engaged couple wants. Bright and dark colors, pumpkins, candy, insects, and skeletons are all up for use at Halloween weddings. There really are no rules. The great part is that when it comes to food, you can totally be inspired by Halloween. Not only are Halloween food and drinks delicious, they are usually fun, too.
Halloween Weddings: Appetizer, Drinks, & Dessert Ideas!
When it comes to Halloween weddings, the food should be fun but not too cheesy. Halloween wedding appetizers, drinks, and desserts should be slightly elevated, somewhat elegant, but still give a nod to their inspiration. This means that use of seasonal ingredients, colors, and designs are all going to come into play. With a little creativity, and some properly placed references to Halloween, your wedding can be scary, romantic, and super tasty all at the same time.
HALLOWEEN WEDDINGS: APPETIZER IDEAS
Halloween weddings have appetizers that are visually appealing and also dramatic. You can use different colors, spooky garnishes, or even shapes to help support your theme.
Charcuterie Boards
Charcuterie boards are all the rage right now. These visually appealing boards often have a plethora of choices for guests to munch on during a cocktail hour or reception. The goal with charcuterie boards is to keep them colorful, with a range of options and textures. If you need help with “normal” boards, check out this post. For a Halloween wedding, look for opportunities to use dramatic colors, interesting shapes, and decorations for your charcuterie boards.
Below are three examples of Halloween wedding charcuterie boards:
Charcuterie Board #1
This board has multi-colored cheeses, dark grapes, and interesting garnishes.

Charcuterie Board #2
This charcuterie board is having a little more fun with Halloween. The creator found uses for olives to make the appearance of spiders and eyes, both of which are super creepy. They also used dark colored sauces for some drama. Mummy-shaped crackers round out the nod to Halloween.

Charcuterie Board #3
How cute is this one? A cheese ball shaped like a pumpkin? Yes, please! Everything bagel seasoning for pops of black? Sign me up!

Dramatic Halloween Wedding Appetizer Ideas
You may want your Halloween wedding to a mix of dramatic and romantic. Just know that you can also add scary elements to your appetizers if you want to have fun with it. This could even apply to elevated nibbles.
For example, you could wrap sausages in puffed pastry, add some fried capers, and make a little “mummies” in a blanket. Of course, deviled eggs are always a crowd pleaser, and perfect for a Halloween themed celebration. Get clever with dips by creating spider web designs, or providing finger-shaped crackers to dip into them, as seen below.

HALLOWEEN WEDDINGS: DESSERT IDEAS
Halloween weddings wouldn’t be complete without dessert. You can become inspired with seasonal ingredients, or from the use of clever designs.
Of course, you can still have a wedding cake, and your baker can decorate it however you’d like. However, I’ll give you ideas for alternative Halloween desserts as well. This post is not going to provide all the recipes for these, because I’m not a baker. I will provide some links to recipes you can reference, though, and some photos of ways to make these desserts more appealing for a Halloween wedding.
Pumpkin Tarts
Pumpkin is great for Halloween, and tarts are so cute. You can have a baker make these for you, or find them at your local grocery store and then decorate them yourself. If you want to make them, follow this recipe.

Bloody Chocolate Cupcakes
These are so easy and fun. All you’ll have to do is take brownie bites from your local grocery store, add on some whipped cream, and drizzle with really thinned out red icing. Top with a blueberry and you’re good to go.

Specialty Cookies
These Halloween cookies are super easy to find at most grocery stores, or you can have them specifically made for your wedding by a professional baker. Not only would these decorated cookies be fun for an after-dinner treat, but they could be a great wedding favor as well.

Panna Cotta “Eye”
Panna Cotta is kind of like a mix between Jell-O and pudding. It is an easy recipe to make, and can be modified to fit a lot of different dietary restrictions. The cool thing about it is that you can mold it like Jell-O, so there are a lot of shape options.
For this fun dessert, either make it yourself, or hire a local bakery to help you. Once you figure out how to get the panna cotta, the rest is easy. Thin raspberry syrup can be bought from your local grocery or craft store, and you can use a kiwi and chocolate for the eye. Come up with a plan to assemble and serve!
