Dance Floor Accessories

Dance floor accessories.  Oh my.  I have a feeling this is going to be a sort of silly post.

So many things about weddings are dramatic and serious.  This post is all about FUN, though!

When your guests get out there on the dance floor (one day, when we aren’t in a global pandemic, of course), they will be ready to go. Hopefully the music is awesome and they are fully lubricated with their beverages of choice (wink, wink).

Now, you can send them out onto the dance floor and let them boogie themselves till the end of the evening and they will have a blast. . . or you can provide some awesome accessories for their enjoyment and to make the experience that much better.

Dance Floor Accessories To Provide:

1. Flip Flops

A few weeks before my wedding I went to a local craft store and bought $1 flip flops (or sandals, depending on where you’re from) in a variety of sizes. I was able to guess the amount to buy by taking the guest list and multiplying it by 25% (so if you have 100 guests, get 25 pairs). I ended up with a lot of extra’s, but they were so inexpensive I just ended up donating the unused leftovers.

Shoes like this are super popular because a lot of your guests will dress up and wear uncomfortable shoes that are not conducive to the dance floor. Giving them a chance to wear something that feels good will help their participation!

2. Inflatable musical instruments

To be honest, we didn’t even blow these up. Seriously. We went to a local party store, bought a few inflatable guitars and saxophones, and let guests find them near the dance floor. Someone will find them. And someone will blow them up themselves. And lots of people will pretend to “play” them.

3. Glow Sticks

Enough said. Bring the rave to your wedding. Guests love these. We had a variety of glow sticks you could wear or wave, and they were so popular.

4. Beaded necklaces

Why not have a Mardi Gras flair going at your wedding? Not only can beads be cheap and easily color coordinated with your decorations, they are super fun. Even the stuffiest of folks seem more fun when they wear them. With these, you could easily just leave them out and guests will find them.

Let’s Talk About WHY You’ll Want To Provide Accessories:

1. Photo opportunities

There’s something about an inflatable saxophone that brings out the excitement in people. They will pose. They will have fun with it. And it will be awesome.

2. Fun for all ages

Seriously, grandma and your cousin’s toddler will enjoy the dance floor accessories. How could you not? And how awesome would it be to see both of those types of people waving a glow stick while dancing to YMCA??

3. Helps with the party atmosphere

Fun, silly items really help people relax. Even if they aren’t drinking, these types of items can at least help a guest laugh at another guest, or enjoy the scene of what’s happening around them.

4. Enhances the experience in an inexpensive way

None of these items are hard to find or expensive. You can easily order them online, or locate them in a local party or craft store. And the experience is increased so much more because of them.

Long story short – don’t be afraid to accessorize your dance floor! It’s not that costly, it’s fun for everyone, and it helps the party really flourish.
