Want to learn about things that are easy to forget about your wedding day? You’re in the right place!
When we plan our weddings, there are a million little things to remember. And, even if we’ve made trackers and lists and gone over everything over and over, little things still fall through the cracks. The issue with things that are easy to forget about your wedding day is that some of them can really impact your wedding experience. Let’s try to prevent that, shall we?
The great news is that when you know, you know. And, many things that are easy to forget can be planned ahead for. In fact, the earlier you know about a few details, the easier it will be to mitigate them so you don’t have to think about them later on. For example, you can make decisions about your wedding clothes early on. These decisions can impact your wedding positively or negatively. More on that later.
10 Things That Are Easy To Forget About Your Wedding Day
Even though you have a zillion things to remember on your wedding day, and throughout your wedding planning journey, this post has you covered with some easy to forget items. I’ll share with you some lessons that I learned while planning my wedding, and include tips from others.
Let’s get into it (before we forget!)!
1. WEDDING CLOTHES NEED TO BE SOMEWHAT COMFORTABLE
I know someone is probably rolling their eyes at this. Look, I know that wedding gowns and suits are not necessarily the most comfortable clothes. But hear me out.
When you pick out what you will wear to your wedding, remember that you will need to be able to move, sit, and exist in this outfit. Some gowns can be quite heavy. It can be exhausting to dance, walk, or get around in some of them. Plus, some fabric can be scratchy and irritating. Don’t even get me started about when you’ll need to go to the bathroom.
The moral of the story is that your comfort can be one of those things that are easy to forget about your wedding day. We get focus on how we look, and think we can just power through for one day. Remember, it’s an important day to feel your best. So, plan accordingly.
2. SHOES NEED TO BE BROKEN IN BEFORE YOUR WEDDING DAY
Did you know that I bought and returned three pairs of shoes before my wedding? No lie.
When you buy a pair of shoes to wear at your wedding, don’t forget to break them in. Wear them around your home. If they don’t feel good on your feet, consider not having them at your wedding. Or, try and see if you can get them to mold a little better. I promise you, you do not want to wear uncomfortable shoes to your wedding. Be sure to buy some that can be returned if they just aren’t working out.

3. YOUR WEDDING MAY NEED INSURANCE, LICENCES, OR PERMITS
If you are getting married at a tried-and-true wedding venue, this may not apply to you.
However, if you are getting married at home, or an unusual venue, definitely don’t forget to look into the paperwork aspect of it.
This is especially applicable if you are serving alcohol, or getting married outside yet near homes. It’s so easy to forget asking your local authorities if anything extra is needed. And, if it is, there is hope. You can often obtain insurance quickly online. If you need permits, you should be able to get them easily (after a small fee). It can seem dauting, but once you know, you’ll figure it out.
4. YOUR WEDDING MORNING NEEDS ITS OWN PLAN
We spend a lot of time planning our wedding schedule.
We go over all the little details, and some of us map it to the minute. It’s easy to forget to do that for your whole wedding day, including the time before your wedding. Take some time during your wedding planning to think about your wedding day’s morning. What will you eat? Who will be there? What time should everyone arrive? Will there be any activities to get done?
Thinking about these things, and writing them down will help insure a smooth wedding day, not just a smooth wedding.

5. IT’S EASY TO OVERDO IT THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR WEDDING
Most of us have plans with friends and family the night before our weddings. And, it can be really tempting to start partying with everyone.
If you want to have the most optimal wedding day experience, it’s essential that you remember to take it easy the night before. Remember that you need a good night’s sleep, and to look refreshed. This means going to bed at a reasonable time, refraining from drinking too much, and eating nutritious food.

6. NATURAL LIGHT ON YOUR WEDDING DAY IS YOUR FRIEND
Natural light is having a moment.
Having natural light available when you’re getting ready on your wedding day has multiple benefits. First, natural light can improve our moods. Sunlight can also give us energy and encourage activity. Wedding days are a marathon, so the more energy the better, right?
Also, natural light helps make up artists see how the looks are coming along. If there are any flaws or items to fix, the artists can take care of them right away with the right light.
So, when you plan out getting ready, make sure to include a window, and pull those curtains way back to let light in.
7. THERE NEEDS TO BE SEATING FOR GETTING READY
Imagine this scenario.
It’s the morning of your wedding. You, and your five bridesmaids are planning to get ready. There’s also two makeup artists, two hair stylists, your mom, your aunt, and a photographer. You’re all in a hotel room (or another small space).
Now, chances are the people who are working will need to stand while doing so. However, everyone else will likely be mostly sitting. Only, there may not be seats. So, people lie on beds. They sit on the floor. They make it work. If they are having their hair or makeup done, they get to sit in an actual chair. But only if a chair is even there.
One thing that is easy to forget about your wedding day is seating. Plan ahead with a few extra fold out chairs. Or, ask the place where you’re getting ready what they have available.
8. DRINKING ALCOHOL EARLY IN THE DAY CAN CAUSE A LOT OF ISSUES LATER ON
Just like getting the party started the night before your wedding is tempting, so is getting started early on your wedding day.
Chances are, your friends may want to have mimosas or other drinks while you’re all getting ready. And that’s fine for them. However, it’s your day, and you probably need to pace yourself. Drinking too early can cause dehydration, headaches, fatigue, and basically a lot of other issues that you likely don’t want to deal with on your wedding day.
My suggestion? Come prepared with some yummy, and hydrating, beverages. Grocery stores are filled with fancy teas, elixirs, shakes, and kombuchas. Bring a fancy glass, and start in on some fun items. Even if you just want to drink water, jazz it up with some lemon and herbs. It’ll do your body good.
9. YOU NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW YOU’RE GETTING TO AND FROM YOUR WEDDING (AND HAVE A BACK UP PLAN)
Of all the things that are easy to forget about your wedding day, this one stands out to me. Because I kind of forgot to follow through with our transportation plan.
No, I didn’t totally forget to plan for my wedding transportation. It just wasn’t very well thought out. And, my plans fell through when my hotel’s shuttle service never returned for us. Looking back, I should have tried a bit harder to ensure we had proper transportation after our wedding. Luckily, we had a guest who could drive us, but it wasn’t ideal.
The moral of the story here is that you need a plan for how you will get around. Once you have a plan, double check it. And then have a back up plan. Don’t forget that last step.
10. IT ALL GOES BY FAST – ENJOY THE MOMENT!
The last thing that is easy to forget about your wedding day is that it goes by very fast.
I know you’ve heard this one before. But, I’ll still remind you about it. It’s important to set yourself up for success leading up to your wedding. This means taking care of your body before your wedding, getting a good night’s sleep, having a great breakfast, and staying present.
Don’t let outside stressors get you down on this one day. Enjoy each and every moment, even if a little voice is telling you that the moment could have been better. Just take it in (and don’t forget to remind yourself this throughout the day).
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Alright friends. We all know that there are things that are easy to forget about your wedding day. It all comes down to planning ahead for your comfort, your energy levels, and thinking about the small, yet important, parts of your day. Having proper rest, holding off on partying until the actual party, creating a space that is comfortable for getting ready, and enjoying the moment will all enhance your wedding in small ways. Happy wedding planning!
