Have you heard about using Canva for your wedding? If not, let me tell you all about it!
If you’ve never heard of Canva, get ready to learn. Canva is an online graphic design tool. It is incredibly simple to use, and has a ton of functionality. It’s easy to gain access to, and share what you work on. Plus, you can collaborate with others on your projects. I love Canva for tons of blog-related items, but using Canva for your wedding is definitely something to consider.
Not only is Canva simple to start using, but there are a bunch of different reasons why it’s great for wedding planning in general. If you have any sort of graphic design skills, you’ll love it. And, even if you don’t, you’ll get there. There are templates within Canva to get you started, and the sky is the limit when it comes to your creativity.

All About Using Canva For Your Wedding
This post is going to go into why you should be using Canva for your wedding. It is not a tutorial post on any one subject. It’s meant to give you an overview of what this tool is, so you can look into how to use it for yourself. At the end of this post I do provide some Canva-related resources. However, the bulk of this post is to open your eyes to what’s available.
Let’s get into it!
WHAT IS CANVA?
As I mentioned above, Canva is an online graphic design tool. It has a website that you can log into to create designs and projects, and an app that allows you to access those projects from your phone.
This online editing system comes with templates, ability to upload your own photos, stock photos, fonts, and various design elements. Each “project” that you work on is saved within it’s system, but you can download at any point to your own device. It’s easy to change the size of the items within Canva, so there is versatility in it with what you’re creating.
Plus, the templates that it provides allows you to edit to your own taste and easily create professional-looking graphics for your wedding.

HOW MUCH DOES CANVA COST?
Using Canva for your wedding is awesome because it’s cost effective.
There is a free version within Canva, that allows you to create, save, and edit designs, but it does have some limitations. For example, the free version has limited fonts that you can use. And, you can’t resize with the same ease as the paid versions (resizing is a feature I’ve grown to love). However, with the free version you can still use templates and design graphics really easily.
If you want to pay for Canva, the membership is $119 for one year for an individual, and $149 for one year for a “team”. If you’re using Canva for your wedding, your team may consist of a few people who will collaborate together on designs. Or, you as the individual may be sufficient, sharing downloads with those who you’d like to provide input.
The paid-for version gives you access to all the fonts, features, and abilities that Canva offers. And, let me tell you, there are tons. Long story short, if you’d like lots of options and no roadblocks, the paid version is probably worth it. If you don’t care about some limitations, the free version is the way to go.

BENEFITS OF CANVA
As I mentioned above, Canva has so many benefits. It’s intuitive, has templates, and it’s easy to download designs for your own editing from Etsy, and other places online, right into it. When it comes to your wedding, you may want to use Canva because:
- You see the value in designing graphics yourself, rather than paying another person to do it. For example, it may be cost effective to design your own items and print them off, instead of order them already created.
- You like to play around with design and graphics.
- You have other uses for Canva. For example, many content creators and small businesses use it for basic marketing and designs.
- You’re looking for the “perfect” designs for your wedding, and coming up short. Canva will allow you to get as specific as you want.
- You’d like to learn a new skill or tool, and see this as a long-term gain.

WEDDING USES FOR CANVA
Alright, alright. Let’s talk about what using Canva for your wedding actually produces. It’s not all about creating pretty graphics. It’s about creating pretty graphics that can actually become items for your wedding. And while, yes, you can order these things and have someone else design them, using Canva for your wedding allows you more freedom and control. This may be appealing to you.
PERFECT WEDDING USES FOR CANVA
- Save The Dates – It’s so easy to create a postcard in Canva. Input the details of your wedding, and a nice picture, and call it a day. There are even templates in the tool that you can use to edit, so it’s a no brainer to create.
- Wedding Invitations – Again, you can create the invitation itself, as well as any inserts about your registry, directions, or additional information, right in Canva.
- Wedding Signs – I love Canva for this use. Wedding signage is important.
- Thank You Cards – Using Canva for your wedding’s thank you cards is so easy. There are templates that you can use to print off, or download and email to your guests.

CANVA TIPS AND TRICKS
Here are some additional tips about Canva:
- Canva allows you to easily resize designs and templates. This means you can create consistency with all of your printables.
- With Canva you can turn your designs into PDF attachments, or print them. This allows you to have a digital wedding, if you choose. Or, you can go the more traditional route by printing off your designs and mailing them.
- You can create a brand kit in Canva, if you have the paid version. This allows you to store your wedding colors for easy access.
- Canva allows you to remove backgrounds from photos with their “Effects” editor. This means that you can impose photos of you and your partner with any background.
- It’s super easy to copy, duplicate, replicate, and basically make different versions within Canva, using tools that are easy to find.
- If you go the digital route with your invites and save-the-dates, you can put your wedding website link right into your PDF, using Canva. The same goes with a QR code if you’re printing off your designs.
