Wedding planning time saving hacks can make life so much easier.
We all know what a hack is, right? Something that helps us accomplish a goal in a better way. Maybe it involves a product. Or maybe it involves common sense. Perhaps a hack is about intention and follow through. No matter what, hacks can help us in many, many ways.
The great news about wedding planning time saving hacks is that just about anyone can do them. All you need to do is pick and choose what you’re not already doing, or can do in a better way, and follow through as best you can. Not only will you save time while you plan your wedding, but your stress will be reduced, your wedding will be more organized, and you will have more control. It’s a beautiful thing.
12 Wedding Planning Time Saving Hacks
This post is going to share with you twelve wedding planning time saving hacks. Yes, in some cases, you have already heard these hacks. But I bet there are few that you haven’t heard yet. In either situation, you may be motivated to try something you haven’t tried yet. Planning a wedding can be very time consuming, so any help should be well, helpful.
Let’s get into it!
1. DOWNLOAD FREE WEDDING CHECKLISTS AND APPS (AND ACTUALLY USE THEM)
These days, there are so many free wedding planning tools out there. Checklists and apps galore. And, some of them are quite useful.
Checklists and apps can be really great wedding planning time saving hacks. I mean, everything is already laid out for you. Plus, you can set many of them up with notifications and settings that are customized just for you.

2. LIST OUT EVERYTHING TO GET DONE, AND THEN DELEGATE LIKE CRAZY
Other wedding planning time savings hacks have to do with getting intentional and recruiting others for help.
In this hack, it’s really quite simple. Look at what needs to get done and then decide if you, and only you, can do it. For example, only you can try on wedding dresses that you will wear to your wedding. But, not only you can make appointments at wedding salons to try on dresses. Only you can determine your final guest list, but other people can stuff, address, and send the invitations. See the trend?
Taking the time to divide tasks and delegate will be an investment in the end. And, you’ll give your friends and family the opportunity to get involved in your wedding. It will make them feel useful, and save you time.
3. PREVENT PROCRASTINATING BY GIVING YOURSELF “ACCOMPLISHMENT REWARDS”
Is this a hack? I’m not sure, but it is effective.
When it comes to wedding planning, and getting things done, procrastination is your enemy. I know, some people think they thrive on it. However, with weddings, why add the stress? Just get stuff done, when you can, ahead of your wedding.
To motivate yourself, give yourself a reward every time you cross something off your list. Maybe it’s a date night with your fiancé. Or, it could be a few hours to binge a show with your favorite ice cream. Do what works for you, so you’re not left with a ton to do in the hours before you get married.
4. BE VERY SELECTIVE WITH DIY
DIY is not your friend when it comes to wedding planning and time management. It really isn’t.
And again, this isn’t one of those wedding planning time saving hacks that is ground shaking. It’s just common sense. Before getting into a project, know what you’re getting into. Allow yourself time to research the proper materials and methods. Do a test or trial run, if you can. If you’re not totally skilled at the craft, give yourself enough time and budget to learn it and get the project done in a timeline that makes sense. Save stress, money, and time, just by being selective.
5. PLAN, THEN DO
While we’re on the topic of common sense, let’s talk about planning and then doing.
So many times while we’re planning an event or project, we jump into the “doing”. With wedding planning, this could mean that you’re choosing your wedding dress before your venue. Or, you book your caterer without talking to your partner first. When it comes to wedding planning, you need to plan, and then do. There’s a method to the madness. A way to think about the order in which you do things, and then go and do them. It will save you time in the long run, promise.
6. CENTRALIZE ALL FAQ’S ON YOUR WEDDING WEBSITE
Again with the common sense wedding planning time saving hacks!
Centralizing all your frequently asked questions to your wedding website will save you time, in the long run, as long as your guests know about your wedding website. Simply list every question that can come up and then direct guests to it. They will ask you less, and if questions do come you way you can send them the link. It will save your time and your sanity.
7. KEEP EVERYTHING IN ONE SPOT
Did you know that the average person spends an hour a day just looking for things? Its insane when you think about it.
Don’t waste time looking for things for your wedding. Seriously. All you need to do is centralize your wedding items. This can be true for your physical items, where you keep them all in one room or closet. It can also be true for digital items. For example, some people create a separate email just for their wedding so they don’t have to search as hard for vendor information and contracts. Keep it all together, and search less in the long run.
8. KEEP YOUR WEDDING SIMPLE
Is simplicity a hack? I like to think it is.
Why would keeping your wedding simple be a wedding time saving hack? Well, because simple means you have to think about less things. Deal with less things. Maybe not have to address something at all. Simplicity can be amazing for time management, because it eliminates the clutter and waste. And, we all know, time can be a huge waste.
So, keep your wedding simple in order to save efforts. Eliminate items from it that don’t serve you. Don’t overthink things. You’ll save time for sure.
9. DON’T WAIVER ON YOUR DECISIONS
When we go back and forth on a decision, it can be a massive waste of time.
I’m serious about this. Think about how much time is wasted just by trying to decide things. The problem is that often we have to wait for a decision in order to take additional actions. Take your venue, for example. You can’t do anything until you book your venue. No other vendors can be booked, invites can’t be designed, nothing. Waiting to decide on your venue means you’re delaying your whole wedding plan altogether.
The same can be said about all decisions in your wedding, big and small. From your guest list to the color of your linens, the longer you take to decide and finalize, the longer everything else will take. It becomes a huge waste of time. So, be confident in your choices. Choose them, and then move forward.
10. CHOOSE DIGITAL OVER PHYSICAL
You know what can take a long time? Paper.
One of the best wedding planning time saving hacks is eliminating the need for paper altogether. Think about it. If you are sending physical invitations to your wedding, you have to design, finalize, pay for, order, verify, organize, stuff, address, stamp, and send them. Every single step takes time.
However, if you are going digital all you need to do is design, finalize, maybe pay for, and then send. So many steps get cut out of the process. Plus, you save money, too.
So, if you can stomach it, choose digital over physical. Maybe you go digital for save the dates and physical for invitations. Do what feels right. Save time where you can.
11. USE AN RSVP TRACKER
If you are having a mid to large wedding, tracking invitations can be really annoying.
One way to save time tracking RSVP’s is to use an RSVP tracker. These trackers can be found in many of those free wedding resources I shared earlier. They are also on many wedding websites. Instead of having guests send back an RSVP card (which takes time), have them go to a link and RSVP online. You then don’t have to deal with the card and your own system to track who is coming to your wedding. It’s all done and organized for you, which is such a time saver.
12. CHOOSE AN ALL-INCLUSIVE VENUE
Some people think that if you choose a blank-slate venue, where you design and pick every vendor, linen, and item, you have more control over your wedding and may save time and money.
None of that is the case, in my opinion.
All-inclusive venues take care of so much for you. And, they are great for indecisive people, too. These venues narrow down your choices, and they make all the arrangements. All you need to do is see your options, decide, and follow their directions from there. While your wedding may not be totally in your control, and may be a bit “cookie-cutter”, you will save a lot of time, and it’s all good.
