To enhance your guest experience, you may want to promote certain a “Signature Drink” that you and your partner enjoy.
What Is A Signature Drink?
You already know that you need beverages at your wedding, and they can range from water, to soda (or pop, depending on where you’re from), and coffee, to wine, liquor, and everything in between. Perhaps you want to have fun and create something new or name a well known drink something that is meaningful to you. This is where signature drinks come in.
At my wedding, we had two signature drinks.

Mine was called “Blushing Bride”. A vodka lover, I had the bartender serve a vodka, cranberry, and Sprite cocktail that I found to be delicious.
My husband had gotten really good at making what is commonly known as a “Manhattan”, but at our wedding we served them as “Music Man” (as my husband is a musician and owns a retail music store).
Both drinks were super popular and we learned a few guests went a little overboard with them!
What are the considerations should you want to create or promote a Signature Drink?
1. Brainstorm with your partner ideas that would be meaningful to you.
What do you like, either as individuals, or to enjoy together? Does your partner serve you a yummy lemonade with mint on hot days? Do you like to pour him a certain beer after a long day at work? Did you have a certain drink on your first date or vacation together? Think about something you enjoy, that you would want your guests to enjoy as well.
2. Create a fun name for the signature drink.
This can be something wedding related (like the above “Blushing Bride”), or something that is particular to you (like “Mary’s Mojito”, or “The Smith’s Sangria”). Have fun with it! If you really can’t think of something, there are lots of ideas online and you can always go with the original drink’s name (“Cosmo” or “Gin and Tonic”).
3. Make sure your venue will serve the drink.
This may be tricky if you want to serve something with unique ingredients, or if you want to serve the liquor at a wine/beer kind of place. So run it by your venue and see if they can accommodate as you wish, or with some substitutions.
4. Create a fun sign to promote your signature drink.
We actually created a sign using Adobe Illustrator and printed it on really large paper, then framed it. This was the best way to inform our guests what we had come up with.

A couple notes – if you aren’t having alcohol, or will have a limited alcohol menu, you can still totally do this. Serve up Shirley Temple or Arnold Palmer type mixes, or even Italian Ices, and your guests will still have a lot of fun with them. Signature drinks aren’t limited to just alcoholic beverages, just beverages in general!
