I love weddings!
Sometimes people ask me why I write about weddings. And to be honest, there are so many reasons why weddings inspire me to write. There’s just something captivating about them. It’s universal, too. Whether you’ve been in a wedding, gotten married yourself, or just been a guest, you’ve likely felt it. Weddings are emotional, joyful, and a moment where everything just feels good.
Beyond that, weddings are creative. They involve logic, strategy, and intention. To pull off a beautiful wedding is more than just music, a pretty gown, and great food. It needs brains, stamina, and thoughtfulness. Add in layers of meaning, connection among community, and unique moments, and you’ve got all the reasons you need to know why I love weddings.

Why I Love Weddings: The Beauty, The Emotion, And The Magic
This post is going to share why I love weddings. You may love weddings for other reasons. Or, my reasoning may resonate with you. The thing with weddings is that they require a little bit of everything. An awesome wedding doesn’t just happen. It needs all the elements to come together. This includes a loving couple, great planning, flawless execution, beautiful surroundings, and those who get to witness it. It’s a recipe that tastes incredible when properly combined.
That said, let’s get into it!
LOVE IS FRONT AND CENTER AT WEDDINGS
I love weddings because they are about love. They are one of the few moments in life when love takes the spotlight.
A wedding stops time for a little while and points out what love and commitment are. There is permission during a wedding for the couple to publicly display how they feel about each other. This can be inspiring for other couples who are present. It’s not just the love between the couple, either, that is on display. You can see the love when the father of a bride gives a speech. Or when groomsmen congratulate the groom. A great wedding means that the space is filled with love, from everyone. It’s a beautiful thing.
WEDDINGS REQUIRE PLANNING AND STRATEGY
If you know me, you know I love a good plan. Throw in a little strategy to determine and I’m almost in heaven.
Weddings are all about planning and strategy. Yes, planning them is a process. There are many moving pieces to figure out. However, you can strategize how to make your wedding work for you. This means factoring in things like budget, guest count, location, and general preferences. It’s fun to think about the possibilities when there’s a general blueprint that you can make your own.

I LOVE THAT WEDDINGS BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER
Another reason I love weddings is that they bring people together.
Weddings are one of the very few life events where you get to gather everyone you love in one place to celebrate. People are willing to make the effort to attend weddings, and they offer a rare chance for families and old friends to reunite. Grandparents will make journeys, childhood friends will hug like no time has passed, and bygones will be bygones. You get to meet partners you haven’t met yet, and see friends you haven’t seen in a while. Weddings are about community, and they become a shared memory. It’s powerful.
WEDDINGS ARE A BEAUTIFUL BLEND OF TRADITION AND INDIVIDUALITY
I love that weddings allow couples to put their own spin on tradition.
When you go to a wedding, you kinda know what to expect. Except, you don’t. You don’t know what colors you will see. What will be said during speeches. If there will be a first dance, and if so, to what song. You don’t know what food will be served, or how you will witness subtle, or overt, touches of the couple’s style within the event.
Weddings are the perfect combination of old and new. Guests get to enjoy moments that they love, but in a new way, every time. From cultural rituals to meaningful readings, every wedding tells a different story.
THE WEDDING DETAILS TELL A STORY
Speaking of stories, let’s delve a little deeper.
Some people love weddings for the big moments. Moments like being pronounced married, the first kiss, the first dance, and the toasts. I love weddings for the details. Thoughtful touches and intentional choices are what make weddings special. I’m talking about a seating chart that actually took some thought, a wedding cake that nods towards the bride’s hometown, and a signature cocktail that is relevant to the groom’s passion (all of which happened at my own wedding).
The “small” things tell you all about the couple and what they care about. Personal touches are curated after months of planning, and it’s so cool to see it come together.
EMOTIONS ARE REAL AND RAW AT WEDDINGS
I love weddings because they bring out the emotional side of me. I shed tears at nearly every wedding I’ve attended.
Why? Because weddings are real. The tears of a proud dad walking his daughter down the aisle are real. The nervousness in the groom’s voice as he says his vows are real. The hug from a grandmother to a bride is real.
Weddings are one of the few social settings where emotions are expected and embraced. All the feelings are okay. It’s okay to laugh, cry, be nervous, overflow with joy, remember the past, talk about the future, and just be excited. They are all present, often all at once. Weddings are honest in that way, and it’s beautiful.
WEDDINGS OFFER HOPE AND NEW BEGINNINGS
At their core, weddings are about hope and faith. They are about two people committing to face life together, no matter what happens.
In a world that feels uncertain, overwhelming, and just plain unhinged, seeing that level of commitment is inspiring. When I hear a couple say their vows, and I’m sitting next to my own husband, I’m inspired to commit to him. I can feel the connection, so much that it becomes a part of me and my experience.
Every couple starts off their married life full of dreams, goals, and promises. Weddings are a fresh start, a new beginning. They are a jumping off point for a couple to build something new together. Seeing that optimism and courage, and being a part of it, is something we all need from time to time.
WEDDINGS HAVE SOMETHING TO LOVE FOR EVERYONE
Weddings are a smorgasbord of amazing things. And, you don’t have to be a romantic to love them.
Maybe you’re into food. Or music and dancing. Perhaps you like fashion. It might be that you like ambiance and socialization. Whether you’re into appetizers and late-night snacks, or you’re there for the music and party, weddings can offer you what you like. They are a multi-sensory, uber-emotional experience. The colors, sounds, scents, tastes, and feelings allow for lots of opportunities to notice, admire, and enjoy it all.
Additionally, weddings have big and small moments. That balance is a huge reason why I love weddings.
WHY I LOVE WEDDINGS
Friends, clearly, I love weddings. They are filled with beauty, truth, and intention. They require careful planning, preparation, and strategy. Weddings are beautiful, both aesthetically and from within. There is a joy that comes with the celebration of a wedding, and that joy is contagious. Emotions are welcome, and the details tell a love story. There is no such thing as a perfect wedding, but every wedding is perfect in it’s own way.
